Cedar Rocking Chairs |
A friend of mine contacted me about some redwood chairs that he had bought years ago. There were plenty of bad spots on the wood and he wanted the bad pieces replaced and the whole chair refinished. The more I worked on these chairs, I found that there were not many pieces of the chair that were salvageable. I called him up and discussed a few options. What we came up with is pictured to the left. I took the design and pieces from the old chairs and made templates. I rebuilt the chairs in Western Red Cedar and left them unfinished. This was a cheaper option for him considering the condition of the old ones. And they will last for years to come, even though the winter weather on a front porch of Gatlinburg Tennessee. |
